Great to hear from you Aurelie

Finding out the root cause of candida and discovering food intolerances can be a real challenge. After a few challenging years I now realise you need to find the route cause of candida before tackling it.

After my <a href = "/foodie/880/gut-test/?phpMyAdmin=1oZT2s9Fo-cCluoroUFXMbLccX4" title="gut test"/ rel="nofollow">gut test I found out that not only do I have candida but also two other gut bacterial issues:

Putrefaction Dysbiosis | Clostridium Overgrowth

Both of these mean that I have an imbalance of good/bad bacteria on my gut which makes it impossible to get rid of candidia completely. Although my restricted diet has reduced this significantly it’s not got rid of entirely.

So along with my normal restrictive diet I am currently on a course of tablets to treat the above - so fingers crossed these things will work.

I got my gut test from YORKTEST but these tests are done in a lab in Germany so there are other companies that do this to.

Glad the blog is of use, keep in touch with how you go with things.

Hello Miranda! I was looking for a free from crumble recipe and i came across your blog! It feels good to see that i am not the only one in this case. I was self diagnose for candida two years ago and a naturopath confirmed it last year. i am on a restricted diet ever since...but it is very hard to know if you are dong the right thing or not. Personally i think the anticandida diet is very extreme and has done some damage to me. I am a naturally skinny person and the diet made me lose 5 kg that i didn't manage to put back on since last year.
I have just done a hair test and found out about my "real" food intolerances. Wheat, yeast, all dairy, potatoes, tomato, lemons, coffee and chocolate. i am relief that everything is a bit clearer now. Some of the foods i didnt know i was intolerant to but it means that everything that is not on the list i can eat!!!!!!
Could you tell me what kind of test is your "gut test"?
Merci!

Hello Luci

Thanks for your message and sorry it's taken me a few days to get back to you.

I know exactly what you are saying I was self diagnosed with Candida and therefore on a restrictive diet for the last two years. Went to see doctors for advice and had lots of tests which all came back with nothing. No one once recommended "Food Intolerance" testing and to be honest the lack of advice was so frustrating I have since lots my faith in the medical profession in relation to these kind of issues.

The intolerance tests are done through a blood test provide by York Foods. It's expensive but myself and a few friends with food issues have done it recently and seen some interesting and unexpected results. For example mine came up with issues on: eggs, gluten, oily fish, dairy, cashews and yeast. So a bit of a mixed bag there but what's great is now I don't feel I am walking around in the dark so much.

On top of the food intolerance test I did a Gut test as this is really the root of all my issues and this came back with interesting results too. I found that I have bad bacteria in my gut of a certain strain that is killing all the good bacteria and also something nasty called Putrefaction Dysbiosis, and low amounts of Candida. I got the tests results a few days ago so it's all kind of new to me but essentially I need to still be on a restrictive diet as I have been but also take extra probiotics of a certain strain. I will do a blog about this when I know more, I am speaking to a Dietician as part of the tests from York Test on Monday.

Hi Miranda,

I have self-diagnosed food intolerances and have been trying to get some kind of test done for years. I finally got an appt wtih an NHS dietician after 5 years, who listened to my symptoms and agreed that yes, I probably do have intolerances! So, I was really surprised to see your test, as the dietician had implied there was no such thing. How did you get yourself checked? I am not expecting to be able to get my forbidden foods back but it would be reassuring to know I was on the right track with my exclusions.

Thanks for your help!
